Probate Fee Calculator: All 10 Provinces

Pick a province and enter the estate value. The result applies that province's own published probate fee or estate administration tax schedule, with any separate filing fee shown on its own line, never folded silently into "the fee."

Common Questions

How is probate fee calculated in Canada?

Each province sets its own schedule. Most charge a percentage or a fixed amount per $1,000 of estate value above a threshold; Alberta uses flat tiers, Manitoba charges nothing, and Quebec charges a flat court fee unrelated to estate value. This calculator applies the province you select to the estate value you enter.

Which province has the highest probate fee?

At $500,000, Nova Scotia's statutory tax schedule and Ontario's Estate Administration Tax are both among the higher amounts; Manitoba charges nothing and Quebec charges a flat $241 regardless of estate value. Compare your own estate value in the table below.

Is there a probate fee calculator I can use directly from the government?

Ontario is the only province with an official interactive calculator. The other provinces publish their fee schedules but no interactive tool; this page applies those published schedules for you.
